We have begun the second part of our Science Project in Infantil IV. To kick off our second unit we are learning about different biomes from around the world. The children are exploring all kinds of different environment from the arctic to the savannah.

In order to be better acquainted with the biomes we recreated them in eight different play centers: the arctic, the desert, the tropical rainforest, the savannah, the ocean, the mountains, the swamp and the city. We were able to literally dig into and explore the different environments with plastic animals representing the wildlife that lives there.
Everyone especially loved the arctic as it was created with ice and shaving cream to represent snow! Others included the messy swamp made of mud and water plants, and the sandy desert.

This project has opened up our senses and helped us to expand our vocabulary. Not only are we naming and matching animals to biomes but we are also describing the environments from temperatures to textures. It has been such a fun language adventure threw science so far, I can´t wait to see where else it will take us!
