Show and Tell

In an effort to utilize interesting and exciting methods to introduce new words to our growing vocabulary, the First Grade Bilingual class began presenting Show and Tell.
Students are invited once a week to bring a small, non-breakable, memory to show. They are encouraged to use their English as they tell others about their treasures. Items shared ranged from exotic coins from around the world, a small treasure box from Budapest, a tapestry from Turkey, special photos from family vacations, their favorite pair of pajamas, a squishy stuffed animal- their first best friend, and many more.
Many students arrived well prepared, some with their speech written on a piece of paper to help them remember what to say. Others shared straight from the heart about why this object held such fondness. If their English escaped them, others were quick to assist them with the proper word to use. Even the auxiliary teachers were eager to share their special memories, while practicing their English.
It is a special time of bonding, sharing, learning, and evolving on our language journey.
